What is "minky" backing?

Backing Material:

• All of our Blanquilts™ are backed with a high-quality minky fabric.
  
  
• Minky is a super soft modern fabric that feels like a plush velour - it's very soft, cozy, and washes well.
  
  
• Minky should be washed in cold water and either dried flat or on a cool dryer setting.
